How to play

Strooped cards scattered, white circle in the middle reads Ages 6+, 2 Players and 10 mins play

A wonderfully addictive fast-paced two player card game for ages 6 and up. Put your reflexes to the test as you tackle this quirky twist of the human brain!

2 people playing, 5 coloured pawns lined up with the cards next to them, one card being turned over.

Arrange the 5 coloured pawns and place the deck of cards between you and your opponent. Take turns flipping the top card to reveal the 4 colours represented.

The first player to spot the missing colour and grab the matching pawn wins the card. Keep in mind that you can only hold one pawn at a time, and if you pick the wrong one, you must return it before choosing again. Most cards win!

The Stroop Effect

The Stroop effect, discovered in the 1930s by American psychologist John Ridley Stroop, is a fascinating peek into how our brains work! Imagine trying to name the colour of ink while ignoring the word itself—it's like a fun brain teaser! For instance, if the word "green" is printed in red ink, participants had to focus on saying "red" instead of reading "green." Stroop found that people took longer and made more mistakes when the colours didn’t match up. It’s a classic in psychology, showcasing the intricate dance of perception, attention, and cognitive control.

This quirky phenomenon highlights the playful tug-of-war between our automatic responses and our controlled thinking, and it's this playful clash that inspired the game Strooped! So, get ready to test your brain and have some fun!
